GraphEnergyTech, a startup with offices in Lausanne and Cambridge, has raised CHF 1.1 million in funding led by Aramco Ventures and supported by existing shareholders.

The company's innovative technology integrates graphene electrodes into solar cells, replacing silver and other precious metals. This not only reduces costs and improves performance but also addresses the increasing demand for sustainable and efficient materials in the solar industry.

The funding will accelerate the development and scaling of GraphEnergyTech's advanced high-conductivity graphene electrodes, potentially shaping the next generation of solar cells. Co-founded by prominent figures such as Professor Michael Grätzel and Professor Andrea Ferrari, the company aims to expand the application of its technology from solar cells to batteries, supercapacitors, LED lighting, and displays.

Thomas Baumeler, CEO of GraphEnergyTech, expressed satisfaction with the fundraising results and the investment from Aramco Ventures. He stated, “We are very happy with the results of the fundraising and the investment from Aramco Ventures. The funds allow us to take development of our advanced graphene electrodes to the next level. They have the potential to play a part in the development of the next generation of solar cells.” This investment signifies a strong endorsement of the company's technology and its potential to make a significant impact in the renewable energy sector.

GraphEnergyTech won Venture Kick Stage 2 in 2023 and participated in Venture Leaders Mobile in 2024.
