For the last kickoff of 2021, the Venture Leaders Deeptech prepared for their roadshow with a one-day workshop at the startup space in Schlieren. Alex Nikitine and Christian Lütolf from Walder Wyss supported the 10 deeptech members of the Swiss National Startup Team in their preparations for meeting with international investors and experts in London and Munich later this year.
For the first time, deeptech startups will represent Switzerland’s innovative power abroad. The 10 entrepreneurs will travel to London and Munich and connect with international investors, experts, and industry leaders to strengthen their startups’ global network for financing rounds and customer acquisition. “The Venture Leaders Deeptech 2021 offer solutions for complex issues that will transform our future,” said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner at Venturelab. “We are excited to support startups’ internationalization and introduce them to key players who can advance the innovative potential of the Swiss National Startup Team.”

To help the entrepreneurs get ready for the roadshow experience, the startups got support from Alex Nikitine and Christian Lütolf from Walder Wyss, who shared their expertise on fundraising from international investors. “Before raising funds from international investors, take a moment to think about your financing strategy with a long-term perspective. Do not only focus on maximizing valuation in the next financing round but also think about finding the right financing instrument for the phase your company is in, and be aware that the right investor can bring much more to the table than money,” said Christian Lütolf, attorney and managing associate at Walder Wyss. “That’s why we hope that the Venture Leaders get to meet a lot of fantastic investors during the roadshow and can start building their network.”
“The kickoff day was the opportunity to fine-tune our pitch, discover new fundraising opportunities, and get together with the team. Our companies focus on very different markets, but we realized that we face the same challenges in our daily operations. Looking forward to the roadshow to carry on this perfect mix between workshops and informal exchanges,” said Dr. Florent Héroguel, co-founder and COO of Bloom Biorenewables.
