USD 3.8 million for Mosaic SoC to bring real-time spatial intelligence to consumer devices

Mosaic SoC has raised USD 3.8 million in pre-seed funding to develop perception chips that enable consumer devices to understand their surroundings in real time while keeping power consumption low. The company focuses on bringing spatial awareness to compact form factors such as wearables and smart glasses.

Most real-time perception systems today rely on power-hungry processors and graphics processing units (GPUs), chips designed for high-performance parallel computing such as graphics rendering and AI workloads. While powerful, they consume significant energy, which limits their use in lightweight, battery-powered devices. Mosaic SoC addresses this by developing integrated circuits that process visual and positional sensor data directly on-chip, allowing devices to map their environment and track objects in real time.

Mosaic SoC's USD 3.8 million pre-seed financing round, with participation from Founderful and Kickfund, will support the company’s push from early engineering traction to scalable chip deployment. In its first year, Mosaic SoC has already generated revenue through engineering contracts with original design manufacturers (ODMs), companies that design and produce hardware for other brands and integrate components like chips into finished devices, while preparing its perception platform for broader commercial integration.

Founded by Moritz Scherer and Alfio Di Mauro, both PhDs from ETH Zurich, the company has been supported by Venture Kick, has participated in Venture Leaders Mobile, and has been listed among the Top100 Swiss Startups.

Its business model centers on selling chips paired with a full software layer, reducing integration effort for OEMs and ODMs, and shifting from engineering contracts toward scalable hardware revenues as adoption grows.
