The Swiss National Medtech Team is getting ready for the first-ever business development roadshow for medtech startups: The 10 Venture Leaders Medtech 2021 met in Lausanne to prepare for their roadshow to meet international investors, strengthen their networks and present their innovations to a global audience. Venture Leaders Medtech 2021 is organized by Venturelab and supported by EPF Lausanne, ETH Zurich, Hansjörg Wyss, Kellerhals Carrard, Paul Scherrer Institut, Swissnex Boston, University Zurich, Canton of Vaud, and Canton of Zurich.

For the first time, medtech startups get their own Venture Leaders program that will help them enter the global stage. “We are excited that medtech now has its own Venture Leaders program. Medtech has become such an important field in Switzerland, and we wanted to do justice to this development and the innovative power of the Swiss medtech industry,” said Jordi Montserrat, managing partner at Venturelab. “The Venture Leaders Medtech startups 2021 provide an impressive portfolio of high-quality solutions that have the potential to shape the global markets in regenerative medicine.”

The kick-off event marked the first time the 10 Venture Leaders Medtech met and presented their startups—nine startups pitched in person, and one startup participated online. During the one-day workshop at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne, the 10 Venture Leaders Medtech focused on getting to know each other and preparing for the roadshow in the fall. Nicolas Mosimann, a partner and attorney at Kellerhals Carrard, provided his expertise on onboarding strategic investors. “I am so much looking forward to another Venture Leaders roadshow. This is a unique opportunity for our Swiss startups to showcase their cutting-edge technologies to U.S. investors and potential partners and further expand their network within the life sciences world,” said Mosimann.

For the ten medtech entrepreneurs, the Venture Leaders program aims to provide them with expertise o enter the global stage, access to investors and experts, and exchanges with fellow entrepreneurs: “We expect that the Venture Leaders roadshow will help us get direct feedback from people already present in the local medtech ecosystem, and we hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges pertaining to the US market. We are also looking forward to making new contacts and sharing experiences with other Swiss medtech startups going through the same challenges as flowbone,” summarized Valérie Malfroy Camine, the COO of flowbone, her expectations for the Venture Leaders Medtech experience.
