The Swiss Startup ecosystem is represented at the #TechSpiritBarcelona this week, a guerilla event following upon the cancellation of the 2020 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, by the Venture Leaders Mobile Selection. The roadshow is organized by Venturelab and facilitated by Vischer, Swisscom, Huawei Technologies and Switzerland Global Enterprise.
When the industry’s largest and most important event, the MWC, got cancelled, Barcelona’s entrepreneurs and investors quickly announced a unique and one-off pop-up event to take place instead: the Barcelona Tech Spirit. Orchestrating the various initiatives of locals and international MWC participants, the program included over 180 events, including conference-like keynotes and panels, pitching sessions and meetups.
In the middle of this vibrant week: The Venture Leaders Mobile selection 2020 – Swiss visionary startup founders that had been selected through a competitive application process by an expert jury.

The Swiss National Startup Team conquers Barcelona Tech Spirit
Starting off with an adventurous Sailing Experience along the Catalan coast, the startups got to present at the big stage. Venturelab and the program partners played hosts to Spanish and International Investors at the exclusive Investor Pitching Session for the Venture Leaders at the Royal Yacht Club Barcelona, a starting point for new partnerships and potential growth investments.
Venturelab's Managing Partner, Jordi Montserrat, summarizes: “The alternate program offered the startups team the opportunity to pitch and network with investors and the Barcelona tech scene at the Mobile Sunday. It offered was relayed at European level by Tech.eu. Many start-ups also used the trip to organize meetings with business partners. Finally, despite the shortened program, the team effect played its magic and the entrepreneurs really connected together."

Towards the evening, all eyes were on the team again when presenting in front of 204 participants at the Mobile Sunday event, hosted by tech.eu in partnership with Venturelab to celebrate the impressing spirit in Barcelona. The aspiring entrepreneurs shared their insights and objective in Deep Tech, Data and Security with the audience in two Panel discussions after pitching their startup. "From engaging panel discussions to creative pitching sessions, the Venture Leaders showcased some of the cutting-edge technologies revolutionizing Mobile industry and I am excited to share our insights on the latest advancements in confidential computing." - stated Venture Leader Maximilian Groth, Co-Founder of decentriq.
